RegiVAPOR I've met many people that play Minecraft exclusively. I understand it too there's a lot of mods, lots of servers, and the freedom to do a lot of stuff. But I can never get into modded servers. I try RPG ones, I try industry ones, bunch of various kinds. None of them feel right. Just like added extra bloat that don't actually make it a better game. Combat always sucks, I've never played good combat in Minecraft and it's one of the things I'd want improved over most things. But no game really does first person melee combat well.
Fantasy
I'm still working through the Xenoblade games. My XB2 playthrough is just over 100 hours now. Still have yet to beat it or the DLC. It's crazy how much content is in the game and I'm having a blast slowly working through it.
There are two games I've been sinking a lot of time into though that aren't my usuals.
Inkbound and Helen's Mysterious Castle.
Inkbound is a roguelike-ish game. It's turned based and you get tossed into arenas and get to see what each enemy is going to do on their turn and you have to mitigate damage while dealing it out. I see it as kind of a turn based MMO-style raid with all the ground indicators for damage and what not. It's very fun and I quickly sunk 50 hours over the course of 2 weeks into it.
^ Example of the combat during your turn.
There seems to be a lot of depth and for an early access game there's a good amount of polish. It's by the Monster Train developers if anyone has heard of them. Still in Early Access but I'd recommend it any day.
Helen's Mysterious Castle is just an RPG Maker game using what I think are mostly if not all default assets. But it has a custom combat system.
Every item has 3 stats: Eff, Def, and Wait. Eff is just attack, Def is Defense obviously, and Wait is how long it takes to do whatever. The enemies also have the same restrictions. Very fun to figure out how to beat each enemy. There's no leveling system, just upgrading items which has a cap and is very easy. There's almost no grind, I've played 5-6 hours without grinding once. The difficulty feels really good, very fine tuned. And if the game is too hard every time you die you perma get +1 max HP BUT you have to walk back to where you from a safe location. The writing is also really funny, it's comical. It's like $3 and I also highly recommend it.
