For whatever reason I find Japanese music easier to like than western stuff. Maybe it has to do with the chord progressions? Anyways, post some of your favorite artists and tracks. I will start with Deadball-P and Taishi:

Why not, here's some random songs

last one isn't a song, it's the entire album but it's a good one

I used to play the whole Spitz playlist on youtube several years back lmao. Found them because youtube used to push Robinson on every single video I watched, even if it's not Japanese or otaku related.

I was also really into Suneohair back in my college years. Found him through Honey and Clover as several of his songs were used as the anime's ending track (Waltz and Split). I was mesmerized by how good the soundtrack of the show was so I checked the other works from the featured musicians and there I found his whole discography through youtube, funny enough. This is probably my favourite song from him.

I don't know why, might be because I wasn't paying attention, but one of Spitz's songs was actually used in this anime and I didn't even notice.

Well, I'm not one to pass up an opportunity to shill Sayopony. All the girls are great, but there is something special about Shuka's voice. I wish I could post the latest solo track she did, but apparently they took it down from youtube, so here's a slightly older one:

Nickname Hadn't listened to much Spitz outside of "Sora mo toberu hazu" (because Sayopony did a cover of it lol), but this is great. Thanks for sharing.

      • Vast replied to this.

Nickname First song is very soulful, thanks for posting it
gemisthon For some reason I think you will like this:

MeathShot JRPG-esque, this is really good.

          Some traditional Japanese music.

Vast Yeah, this rules. The bossa nova version is good too.

One of my favorite bands of all time. Very awesome, but the singer is very eccentric. Most of the lyrics are all engrish gibber mixed with japanese, but that is also one of the appeals for me.

When it comes to Japanese music though, I mostly like the shoegaze and adjacent stuff.

No Japanese Music Thread is fit without some AKG

Vast taishi angels is really nice

MeathShot damn, havent heard this in years

*also, going to look into replying issues ive just noticed

I love songs by Yorushika. They often sound really nice and playful to me. I wonder if anyone knows other album or song covers that are similar?

I don't know how to embed videos, I hope this will work.

I've collected quite a bit of 80s Japanese stuff, some of my favourites from my collection:

I could post so many songs.
Unrelated but is it just me or most of the youtube previews are not working? Says "Video not available, watch on youtube"

Have you guys listened to Taishi? He's by far one of Japan's most underrated producers. Here's his work in one of his projects called TRäkker.

I like the dancing more than the song

I've also been listening a lot to "The Peggies" and their "Hell Like Heaven" album. Their music is very energetic and fun:
