I forgot that DOOM 3 Collector's Edition came with both games! I never gave DOOM 3 a proper chance though, mainly because what I expect from the DOOM series is something very particular; I think the newer games lean too much on action while DOOM 3 leans too much on atmosphere.
Classic DOOM's my favorite series because it mixes so many things at once; the puzzle in the maze-like level designs and switch and key mechanics, the atmosphere of wandering dark, creepy corridors where a bunch of enemies can easily destroy you, the action of mowing them down with your shotgun, it's all sorts of things. I'm a bit of a stickler I guess in what I want from DOOM, and I'm not against eventually playing it. What I do know is that I can't fucking stand the ADHD tryhard tough-guy power fantasy of the newer DOOM games.
